Can CRR-Pro6.0plus be networked?
1. How many computers can I load the program onto? According to the license agreement, you may load the program onto one computer only (and not for network access). However, if you wish to use your personal laptop as well, we usually approve that one additional installation. Call if you have questions.
2. I can’t see my Windows “Start” bar to run other programs with CRR-Pro running. What is wrong? The task bar is under the CRR-Pro page. Close the CRR-Pro program and right click on a blank area of the task bar. Select “Properties” and then check the box that says “Always on top”. This will make sure the task bar is visible from within the CRR-Pro program.
3. Why can't I display or print the date fields correctly? Particularly in Windows XP (but in some other Windows operating systems as well), the "short date" format is set to MM/DD/YYYY which is to say, forcing a four digit year. The CRR-Pro program is designed to show a two digit year for simplicity. Simply go to the windows "control panel", then, "Regional Preferences" (or settings), and customize the short date format to "MM/DD/YY" (two digit years).
4. How many foreclosure records can the program handle? I have used the program extensively with data files as large as 250,000 records without any problems. I am sure it could go much larger but customers would rarely accumulate so much data. That size of data file takes about 225 Megabytes of disk space on your computer.
5. How can I delete downloaded files without importing them? Simply delete them using your explorer. Right click on Start, then click on Explore, browse for the C: drive, then open the crrpro6.0plus folder, then open the \DATA folder. Your downloaded files will be visible. Right click, and Delete each file you want to remove.
6. How can I reload my program without destroying my current data? Make sure to backup your data prior to reloading the program. CRR-Pro 6.0plus has a backup utility. The instruction manual indicates how to backup your data. Make sure you properly remove the previous 6.0plus from your C: drive. Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs and remove CRR-Pro 6.0plus.
7. How can I copy my old data into the new program version? In your pro6.0plus program, go to Utilities, Setup, Miscl. Then, set your “backup/restore location” to the program area of your previous program. That is, if you are upgrading from 6.0, browse for c:\crrpro6.0 folder, open it, and click OK. If you are upgrading from 5.0 through 5.21, browse for c:\win50 or c:\win52 (whichever you have), open it, and click OK. Once you have set your backup/restore location to the folder of the previous version, close setup by clicking OK. Now, while in the CRR-Pro6.0plus program, choose Utilities then Backup/Restore then Restore Archive File.
8. How can I backup my data? As a first step, make sure your temp file has been emptied and your Archive File re-indexed (and purged). Also make sure you have gone to Utilities, Setup, Miscl and set your backup/restore location (browse for your backup location). It can be a floppy, zip drive, CDR etc… Then, use the CRR-Pro backup Utility (Located in the Utilities Menu). Note: If your archive file contains more than 1,200 records (aprox), it will not fit on a floppy and you should consider installing an inexpensive zip drive or other reliable backup media. These days, a USB memory stick is a great way to store your backup data files.
9. Why do I get the alert "In Use by Another"? This usually means that you have the program open twice (or at lease, Windows thinks you do). To correct this problem, reboot your computer and you should be able to resume normal operation.
10. Why can't I find my downloaded data files? This will only happen if manually downloading CRR files. Automatic downloads will always go to the proper directory and will be seen by the CRR-Pro program.
In
order for the CRR-Pro program to "see" your manually downloaded
files, the files have to be in the C:\crrpro6.0plus\DATA folder
AND the file name has to end in ".DBF". Therefore,
make sure you download to the correct location on your hard drive and DO
NOT change the file names.
11. My .DBF files have Excel (or ACT, or Access, etc…) icons, and when I try to download additional files, Windows won’t let me choose the location. What is wrong? If a user tries to open a “.DBF” file by double-clicking on it, Windows will remember the operation and will “associate” DBF files with Access, Excel, or whatever program was used. This may cause Windows to interfere with downloads of .DBF files (not allow the “SAVE AS” window to appear).
To remove a file association (“.DBF” associated with Access, Excel etc…)
§ In My Computer or Windows Explorer, on the View menu, click Folder Options.
§ Click the File Types tab.
§ In the list of File types, find the “offending” icon corresponding to file type “.DBF”.
§ Highlight this row and Click Remove.
§ Click OK.
Note Once the file association is removed, Windows will no longer treat “.DBF” files automatically and will no longer interfere with downloads of this file type.
These steps may differ slightly in Windows XP or NT. However, the process is the same. Your Windows “Help” section has this information. Check out “file associations”.

Can CRR-Pro6.0plus be networked? Several companies have CRR-Pro6.0plus
series software running on their networks. Although it was not specifically
written for networks, it can be configured to do so. Professional installation
is required and a small additional license fee is charged for each additional
computer running the program. Call for details.
13. I get a Windows Subsystem error loading the program? A few customers have reported this condition. It is caused by a missing or corrupted file in your Windows XP operating system. The name of the file is "AUTOEXEC.NT" and should be in your C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 folder. If that file is not in the location shown, It can usually be found in the C:\WINDOWS\REPAIR folder. If you don't know how to transfer a copy of that file from the /REPAIR folder into the /SYSTEM32 folder, ask someone whow knows.

The "AUTO-DOWNLOAD" feature doesn't work
The indications are one or more of the following: (1) Can't Connect to the
Server (Make sure your CRR ID and Password have been properly entered into
the CRR-Pro program setup as failure to do this will also cause this indication),
(2) "List Files" button will not work, (3) Files may or may not
appear to download but are not found when trying to IMPORT them into the CRR-Pro
program.
A software firewall or other security program is likely the problem, it will
not allow applications (ie,,, the CRR-Pro program) to directly access the
web. You can isolate the culprit by temporarily disabling each of these programs
one-by-one until the auto-download works correctly.
The long term fix is to then configure the offending program to allow the
CRR-Pro application direct web access. If you don't know how to do that, check
the programs documentation for instructions or seek help.

Can I load the program onto another disk?
Some Windows configurations do not use drive C (C:) as their boot (main) drive.
It could be just about any other drive letter. CRR-Pro will normally load
itself on the C: drive and will refuse to load if C: does not exist.
There is a way to temporarily redirect your disks so that CRR-Pro
will load onto a different disk. Once this is done, a registry change will
insure this redirect will be run each time you start your computer so that
the CRR-Pro program will be able to find its own files. This was contributed
by one of our kind users. Here is how he did it.
At the command prompt, type "SUBST C: X:/" where "X" is
the drive letter of your boot drive. You can check your work by typing "SUBST",
you will see a list of substituted drives.
Load the CRR-Pro program by placing the program CD into your CD drive. It
should load normally but on the boot drive rather than C:.
The substitution must be in place any time you want to run the CRR-Pro program.
Here is how to do that:
You should only proceed if you are an expert or if you
have an expert helper with you. We will not responcible for any data loss,
damages or anything else as a result of following these instructions. These
instructions are deemed correct but they are a guide only and no guarantees
are stated or implied. Modification of your system registry could render your
system inoperative. Always make a registry backup first.
PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK!
Run REGEDIT and make a registry backup just in case.
Then, locate
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Create a new "String Value" named "CRR-Pro SUBST"
and set its value to "SUBST C: X:\" (where "X" is your
boot drive letter). It should look the same as the original redirect you used
to load the program in the previous step. This runs each time the computer
starts and the required substitution will be in place so that CRR-Pro will
execute properly.
Thank Eric P for that one.
